Zooey Deschanel and her new boyfriend, Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott, are not already moving in together. That bogus story can be found in one of the tabloids. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
Deschanel recently split from husband Jacob Pechenik after four years of marriage, and has been dating Scott for a very brief period of time. An article in this week's Star claims the two "aren't wasting any time - because the new couple are already shacking up!" The report quotes a supposed source as saying, "They just feel it's the right thing to do. It's natural."
Gossip Cop should mention that Deschanel lives in Los Angeles, while Scott's primary residence is in Las Vegas. The magazine's article makes no mention which city the couple has supposedly settled in. Deschanel's two children aren't mentioned either. A lack of any real detail or insight is always a major red flag. Still, we checked with a mutual friend of ours and Deschanel, who confirms the story is "not true on any level."
This isn't the first time Star has published a phony report about the actress. In April 2017, the tabloid alleged Deschanel was feuding with Jake Johnson on the set of New Girl. The story said the co-stars couldn't stand each other and Johnson was jealous of Deschanel getting a higher salary. Much like this latest article, the report was filled with quotes from a so-called "tipster," who didn't seem to have any comprehensive tidbits for the outlet.
Additionally, that story was written after the TV series had wrapped for the season, but it still falsely insisted there was "tension on set." Gossip Cop busted the tabloid after checking in with a real on-set source, who assured us Deschanel and Johnson had gotten along great while shooting the show.
This isn't the first time Star has targeted Scott with a bogus story either. Last September, the magazine published a false report claiming Scott and his twin brother Drew were in a feud and being "torn apart" because Drew got married around the same time Jonathan broke up with his longtime girlfriend, Jacinta Kuznetsov.
Far from fighting with one another, the Property Brothers stars were actively sharing posts together on social media. The twin brothers were also spotted together on an almost daily basis when the tabloid insisted they were at odds. The unreliable magazine clearly knows very little about the personal lives of either Deschanel or Scott, and it's not any more knowledgable about the two now that they're a couple.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
