Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott are not living together, despite a false report. Gossip Cop has investigated the story. We’ve learned it’s not true.
Deschanel and Scott have only been dating for a little more than a month, but already In Touch is asserting that the couple is moving in together. A so-called source tells the magazine, “They’re inseparable, so they figure why not. Not many people thought this was a serious romance. It just came out of nowhere, but Zooey and Jonathan really clicked.” One thing the story lacks, in addition to the truth, is details.
Scott lives in Las Vegas, where he shoots Property Brothers with his twin brother, Drew. Deschanel, meanwhile, lives in Los Angeles. The article fails to mention which one moved to the other’s hometown. It’s pretty unlikely the tabloid’s “source” knows so much about the couple’s living arrangements, yet didn’t find it necessary to mention where it is that they’re living. The false report also fails to mention how Deschanel’s two young children fit into this equation.
Deschanel, who separated from husband Jacob Pechenik earlier this year, starting dating Scott in early September. The couple recently made it “Instagram Official” with a photo of Scott holding Deschanel in his arms at a Halloween event at Universal Studios. While Pechenik officially filed for divorce last week, Deschanel has not moved in with her new boyfriend. Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Deschanel, who confirms that the outlet’s story is bogus.
The story is eerily similar (and equally false) to one that ran in In Touch’s sister publication, Star, just last month. The outlet also claimed Deschanel and Scott were moving in together. That article, like this latest one, was heavy on speculation but light on details and facts. That report also failed to elaborate on whether the couple were choosing to live in Los Angeles or Las Vegas. It hardly matters of course, because the actress hasn’t moved in with her boyfriend, either last month or now.
In Touch often makes up stories alleging celebrities are moving in with each other. In July, the tabloid asserted that Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga were moving in together, just weeks after his split from Irina Shayk. Like the Deschanel/Scott story, the piece was filled with phony quotes from a so-called “insider.” That report was particular egregious considering that the actor and the singer were never even dating. At least Deschanel and Scott are actually a couple – that much the tabloid got right this time.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
