Willow Smith did NOT come out on Instagram, despite a completely wrong report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the story. A rep for the star tells us the claim is 100 percent “false.”

A Monday headline on MediaTakeOut blares, “WELP… You Knew It Was COMING!! Will And Jada’s Daughter WILLOW… Announces On Instagram… That She’s GAY!!!” Of course, Smith did nothing of the sort, but the site still declares, “The lovely young teen just CAME OUT on Instagram.” The webloid even offers congratulations.

MTO’s entire story is based on an Instagram post on Smith’s verified account. The child star shared a photo of her friend with the caption, “I Love Beautiful Females.” But that’s all she wrote. There was nothing said about her sexual orientation. There was nothing about being gay. And there wasn’t any announcement about coming out.

The site took a major leap and made a huge assumption that shows both insensitivity and ignorance. As one of Smith’s own commenters pointed out, “Dude because she loves females doesn’t make her gay. That’s one of her friends, she[’s] complimenting her friend geez.” Indeed, one can show appreciation for the female form without it being a reflection of the person’s sexuality.

But Gossip Cop isn’t surprised MediaFakeOut took the sensational approach. The webloid actually did something similar with Smith’s brother Jaden back in March. After he sent a birthday tweet to Tyler The Creator that said, in part, “I Think Im In Love With You,” the webloid announced, ““IT HAPPENED!!! Will Smith’s Son Jaden Smith Comes OUT OF THE CLOSET… He Admitted On Twitter… That He’s GAY!!!”

Sound familiar? Gossip Cop exclusively busted that nonsense, and now we can do the same with the new story about Smith. Asked about MediaTakeOut’s “came out” report, a rep for the singer point-blank tells us, “This is false.” Now that’s an announcement.
