Did Will Ferrell and Mel Gibson really feud on the set of Daddy’s Home 2? That’s the claim in one of this week’s new tabloids, but Gossip Cop has exclusively learned the truth.

Gibson co-stars in the upcoming comedy sequel as the father of Mark Wahlberg’s character, and according to an article in the latest issue of Star, Ferrell wasn’t happy about the action star stealing his comedic spotlight. “Mel’s part was pretty small, but Mel killed it and tried to get more screen time at Will’s expense,” a supposed “source” tells the magazine.

The outlet’s dubious insider adds, “He flat-out told Will, ‘I’m funnier than you are,’ and honestly the cast and crew agreed. Mel has great comedic timing.” The “source” goes on to say Ferrell and Gibson have barely spoken since filming wrapped earlier this year, adding, “Will’s not used to playing second fiddle. He’s dreading all of the great reviews Mel is going to get.”

But Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Gisbon to find out if there was actually any on-set tension, and we’re exclusively told the tabloid’s report is “completely made up.” The actor’s spokesperson adds, “Production was an awesome experience for all involved.” An additional on-set source similarly tells us the cast and crew got along great during filming. This is simply a non-story.

It should also be noted, this isn’t the first time Star has wrongly reported the former “Saturday Night Live” star had problems with a co-star. Gossip Cop previously busted the magazine when it falsely claimed Ferrell feuded with Amy Poehler while filming their comedy The House. This also isn’t the first time we’ve had to debunk a phony story surrounding Daddy’s Home 2. Star’s sister publication, OK!, recently alleged Wahlberg teased Gibson about his weight during filming, but no such incident occurred. This latest article is equally fabricated.
