Victoria Beckham is not "considering" joining the upcoming Spice Girls tour, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this inaccurate claim. We're told in no uncertain terms by Beckham's rep that Posh Spice is having "no second thoughts" about performing with the other four members when they hit the stage for six shows in the U.K. in May and June 2019.
An unnamed, untraceable and possibly made-up "insider" is quoted as telling RadarOnline that Beckham "loves the spotlight," and when she realized how "big a deal this reunion was going to be," she started having "second thoughts about joining the ladies." The supposed source suggests Beckham has changed her stance on being part of the tour because "the press has been massive" and the "pre-sales have been huge." The alleged "insider" adds that rehearsals for the tour begin after the New Year, "so Posh has the holidays to think about this" and "change her mind."
The tipster maintains the shows are "very intricate" and "very rehearsed," meaning Beckham "can't change her mind" one day and expect to join the tour the next day. The source contends the singer turned fashion designer can't delay a decision for long: "This train is leaving the station, and isn't going to be delayed for Victoria."
While very dramatic, the website's premise is also very wrong. Just a week ago, after it was announced Mel B, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, and Geri Halliwell would be hitting the road without her, Beckham posted a message on Instagram that read, in part, "I won't be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year."
Basically, the blog would like everyone to believe that since the Spice Girl's six-date UK tour got some press, Beckham, who's written about on a daily basis, feels she need to be a part of this "spotlight," too? Nothing, however, has changed for Beckham, who was honored on Sunday in L.A. with the Fashion Icon Award at the People's Choice Awards. In fact, Beckham made that clear in her acceptance speech during which she said, "I hung up my microphone quite some time ago, and I get a little bit scared when I get on stage and I see a mic." Beckham also said at the People's Choice Awards that she's alway been about "girl power," first with the Spice Girls and "now it's about empowering women through my designs."
Conclusion: RadarOnline based its entire article on an anonymous "insider," with nothing to lose for being wrong or having even manufactured a phony narrative. Conversely, Gossip Cop has quoted Beckham herself saying, "I won't be joining my girls on stage again." We also noted she mentioned a few days later how she gets "scared" being on stage and that the focus in her life now is "empowering women" through fashion.
Still, Gossip Cop went back to Beckham's rep to ask whether she was considering joining the Spice Girls 2019 tour, and we were exclusively told she's having "no second thoughts" about passing on those concerts. For all those reasons, Gossip Cop is giving the website's story a zero out of 10 on our fact or fiction meter.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
