Is Victoria Beckham planning a fashion-themed reality show? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the story and we've exclusively learned the truth.
According to NW, the singer-turned-designer has been meeting with Hollywood executives to develop a TV series surrounding her fashion empire. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "[Victoria] would love to get a fashion show off the ground, much like 'Project Runway.'"
The outlet's "source" goes on to say Beckham is inspired to start her own show now that her husband David is moving to Miami to launch his own soccer team. According to the suspicious tipster, the former Spice Girl is "way past the stage of [just] being 'David's wife'" and feels "her own branding and initiatives are equally as important." The questionable insider adds, "She's got her agents setting up meetings at all the top studios. She has a ton of ideas to impress network bosses with."
The tabloid is basing its story on information from an anonymous and untraceable "insider," but Gossip Cop checked in with Beckham's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that she's not planning a reality show. A rep qualified to speak on the designer's behalf is significantly more reliable than an unnamed "source" who may or may not exist.
Meanwhile, it seems the designer is plenty busy working on her fashion line at the moment, so it doesn't seem like she'll have much time for reality TV. Beckham will host her spring 2019 show at London Fashion Week in September, which also marks the the 10-year anniversary of her company. The fashion icon is also planning more events throughout the year to celebrate her brand's decade.
Oddly enough, this isn't the first time we've had to call out a tabloid for making up a story about the former pop star developing a reality show. Earlier this year, Gossip Cop busted OK! for wrongly reporting that the entire Beckham family would be starring on a TV show similar to "Keeping Up With The Kardashians." As time has shown, no such series is being produced.
Meanwhile, NW has proven to be very unreliable when it comes to the designer's personal and professional life. Earlier this year, Gossip Cop corrected the magazine after it falsely claimed that Beckham had canceled a Spice Girls reunion to have a baby. She's obviously not expecting a child, and her former girl group was never set to reunite in the first place. The outlet's latest article is simply more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
