One of this week's tabloids claims Victoria Beckham is furious with husband David Beckham for saying in an interview that marriage is "hard work." The magazine further contends that the couple's relationship is "in crisis" as a result. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the bogus story.
In an interview earlier this month on the Australian talk show "The Sunday Project," the former soccer star admitted that it takes "hard work" to sustain a marriage for 19 years. He added, "It becomes a little bit more complicated." According to Life & Style, his wife "hit the roof over the remarks" and it's causing major problems in their relationship.
An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Victoria was in tears and yelled at him for making her look like 'a complete idiot.' She felt utterly betrayed." The supposed source adds, "Their marriage is on the rocks. They're having major issues." The questionable tipster goes on to say that the former Spice Girl "finds it difficult to let things drop," and her husband now "has a lot of making up to do, but it's gotten to the point where he is growing tired of making an effort to keep Victoria happy."
The suspicious source continues, "They are living separate lives. Over time, they've just grown apart. David still goes out with his friends to get time away from his wife." The "insider" further contends that the couple's friends believe a divorce is imminent, adding, "They're both miserable. While they've been able to make it work so far, cracks are beginning to show more than ever before."
The magazine's premise is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly nonexistent "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for the Beckhams, who tells us on the record that it's untrue. In fact, Victoria talked about the false rumors surrounding her marriage in her cover story for the October issue of British Vogue, in which she poses alongside her husband and four kids. "People have been making things up about our relationship for 20 years, so David and I are pretty used to ignoring the nonsense and just carrying on as normal," the fashion designer said. She added, "We both realize that we are stronger together than we are as individuals."
Additionally, Victoria poked fun at David in an Instagram post just days after his comments about marriage being "hard work." The former pop star shared photos of the family rock climbing in Australia, including a picture of her husband suspended from a rope while making his way up a cliff. She added the caption, "Careful with that rope!" along with several laughing emojis. Not only is it clear the happy spouses spend time together as a family, but Victoria clearly isn't upset with her husband for opening up about their marriage in an interview.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
