Victoria Beckham is not "furious" over David Beckham launching a Miami soccer team. On the contrary, Gossip Cop has exclusively learned he has his wife's full support. Gossip Cop can bust the wrong reports.
Earlier this week, it was announced that David was officially given approval to start a Major League Soccer club in Miami, several years after the idea was first proposed. Now it's expected the unnamed team will start playing in 2020. This was heralded as great news in the sports world, but The Sun is spreading claims that the reaction among the soccer superstar's family is much different. In fact, the British paper is alleging the Beckhams' marriage is in "crisis over his move to Miami to launch a footie team there."
"She is seething, devastated and furious," a so-called "source" is quoted as saying about Victoria. This supposed snitch goes on to contend to the UK tabloid, "Having to spend so much time away from the family will put a real strain on things... She feels like he's made another selfish decision to put his career first."
A number of outlets around the world have since regurgitated the contentions. Wonderwall in the U.S., for example, has a headline announcing, "Reports Of Tension Hit David And Victoria Beckham Over New Miami Soccer Team." In Australia, News.com.au is offering, "Victoria Beckham Said To Be 'Furious' Over 'Selfish' Husband David's Move To Miami." Owned by News Corp, just like The Sun, it reprinted the original story without any question as to its accuracy. And in London, the Daily Star went further, with its own piece titled, "Posh Fuming As Becks Continues The Party On Return From Miami."
But the family is not being torn apart nor is this development unsupported by the athlete's wife. In fact, Victoria shared on Instagram a video in which she, their kids and fellow stars congratulate David on this achievement. She wrote in the caption, "Amazing @davidbeckham! We can't wait to spend more time in Miami!" She also said in a separate post, "Congratulations @davidbeckham...I'm SO proud!! #dreambig #FutbolMiamiMLS."
Now a rep further tells Gossip Cop exclusively, "They are aligned as a family. It was a family decision and they are all excited about spending more time in Miami." The spokesperson further insists that these stories of strife are "nonsense." It wouldn't be the first time The Sun has proven to be misinformed. In November, we called the publication out for flip-flopping on whether Victoria was doing a Spice Girls reunion tour.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
