Victoria Arlen DWTS Foxtrot

Victoria Arlen gave a poignant performance on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars” that began with her in a wheelchair. The theme was “Most Memorable Year,” and for Arlen it was 2017, the year she was no longer paralyzed and could join the cast of “Dancing With The Stars.” Along with partner Val Chmerkovskiy, she did a foxtrot to OneRepublic’s “I Lived.” Watch the video below of Arlen’s routine.

As Gossip Cop reported, Arlen’s appearance on “Dancing With The Stars” is nothing short of miraculous. When she was a kid, she suffered from two rare neurological conditions that left her in a vegetative state and from which doctors didn’t think she would emerge. But after four years of being unable to move or communicate with the outside world, Arlen came to and learned once again how to eat and speak. However, she was still partially paralyzed and could not walk.

Never a quitter, Arlen competed in the Paralympics as a swimmer and even took home gold. Incredibly, she then learned how to walk again. Last week, as Gossip Cop noted, the ESPN sportscaster was a guest on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and recalled how before her health issues, she told her mother how she wanted to compete on “Dancing With The Stars.” And now she’s doing it, even though she still has no sensation at all in her legs.

Last week, Arlen an Chmerkovskiy performed a quickstep to Chumbawamba’s “Tubthumping.” After their routine, she told host Tom Bergeron, “My legs haven’t moved that quick in almost 12 years.” About her dance, which received 22 out of 30 points, Carrie Ann Inaba said, “You’re totally on the path to a 10.” Len Goodman called it “joyful.” And Bruno Tonioli noted, “Nothing can known you down… I loved what you put into it.”

This week, Goodman said of her foxtrot, “You have inspired the whole of America.” Inaba felt it was “well done.” “You danced like a star,” shared Tonioli. For their performance to One Republic’s “I Lived,” Arlen and Chmerkovskiy got 27 out of 30 points. Check out the video below.
