Tracy Morgan spoke out Monday for the first time since his accident last year that left him seriously injured and killed his friend and fellow comedian James McNair. “As you can see, the scars on my head, I’ve had my good days and my bad days,” the comedian revealed on the “Today” show. “I can’t believe I’m here,” added Morgan who recently settled his lawsuit against Walmart. Watch the video below.

In the emotional interview, Morgan said he did not remember the crash, in which he suffered a traumatic brain injury as well as a broken leg, ribs and nose. He recalled the last time he saw his friend McNair alive at his show in Delaware. “We went there and we did the show, I saw Jimmy laughing and that was the last time I saw him alive,” Morgan said.

Morgan also noted that he and Walmart had worked out a settlement.”I know my friend can rest in peace because we came to an understanding,” he said. “The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there.”

Morgan said he went on YouTube to see video of the crash and also to watch McNair’s funeral. “I wanted to know what happened to my friend, I had to pay my respects,” he said. The “30 Rock” star also thanked the medical team who helped saved his life. Morgan said his top priority right now was to continue to recover. “I love comedy, and I can’t wait to get back to her but my goal is to heal,” Morgan said.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Morgan was seriously injured when he and his friends were involved in an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike last June. A Walmart tractor trailer, driven by Kevin Roper, crashed into the back of Morgan’s limo bus, killing McNair and seriously injuring the other passengers. Morgan has been in physical therapy for months following the accident. Last week, he settled a lawsuit with Walmart, saying the company “did right by me and my family, and for my associates and their families.” The details of the settlement have not been disclosed.
