Tori Spelling is desperately hoping for a second season of BH90210 to free her from debt? That’s the claim in one tabloid this week. Gossip Cop found it to be false.

OK! alleges that Spelling is entirely relying on the show’s second season to fix her financial problems. “She loves working with her old friends,” an anonymous source tells the magazine, “but for Tori, it’s also a good-paying job which can be hard to come by these days.”

“Right now,” the insider continues, “it’s still an iffy proposition whether the network will renew the show, since the ratings had declined by the end of the summer.” The show did see a drop in viewers after its premiere, but that’s generally the pattern for most shows. “She’s hoping to get a phone call soon saying she’s due back on set,” the source adds.

“Tori’s reality show career has dried up and she even has trouble getting regular auditions, so really, 90210 is her mainstay,” the alleged tipster concludes. “She not only really wants, but also really needs the reboot to continue.”

Unlike the tabloid, Gossip Cop fact-checked the claims. We reached out to Spelling’s spokesperson, who went on the record to dismiss the rumors. “This has nothing to do with debt,” the actress’s rep clarifies. “Tori wants BH90210 to be renewed because it’s an amazing groundbreaking show that she and Jennie Garth created and the cast loved working together again. Plus the fans love it!”

It’s true that Spelling has had her fair share of financial troubles over the last few years, but there’s absolutely nothing to connect that history to the 90210 reboot’s second season. In fact, some of the aspects of Spelling’s past money problems were used as inspiration for her character’s own financial struggles. Off the show, however, Spelling’s now doing fine and seems to be growing tired of the media’s insistence on bringing up the issue. As Spelling explained in an interview this August after being probed about her finances, “Am I able to pay my bills? Yeah, thank you.”

This isn’t the outlet’s first time coming up with a fake story about Spelling. In August, Gossip Cop called out OK! for a bogus rumor about Spelling feuding with BH90210 co-creator Jennie Garth over the casting of Denise Richards for the reboot. A few weeks after that, the tabloid claimed Spelling had developed feelings for co-star Brian Austin Green after he mentioned a decades-old hookup between them. Most recently, we had to debunk the tabloid’s baseless assertion that Garth was instrumental in saving Spelling’s marriage. This latest piece is further proof that the tabloid doesn’t have any “insider sources” with accurate insight into the actress’s personal life or career.
