Tom Cruise is a not "daredevil" and "reckless" because he fears life is short and he'll die of colorectal cancer like his dad, despite new reports. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the claim. We're told it's "untrue."
According to RadarOnline, Cruise is so "worried" about disease that he likes to "tempt fate by performing foolhardy stunts" because he's convinced he'll "die young of the same cancer that claimed his father's life." After noting that the actor's dad, Thomas Mapother III, died at 49 from what it calls a "savage hereditary cancer," the outlet quotes a so-called "insider" as saying, "Tom is terrified that he's at the age where he'll contract the same cancer that killed his dad."
The website then makes mention of how Cruise broke his ankle in August while attempting a stunt for Mission: Impossible 6. As reported, the actor tried to jump from one building to another in London, but he fell short of the other rooftop and smashed his ankle. After calling the failed stunt part of Cruise "recklessness," the outlet's alleged "insider" comments in unnaturally detailed language, "This is how Tom lives because of his dad's death," adding, "It's gotten even worse since his mom, Mary Lee, died in February at 80."
The site then fills most of the rest of its article with remarks from doctors, who have never treated (and presumably never met) Cruise, about how children with parents who have had colorectal cancer are "more at risk for developing the disease." RadarOnline actually cribbed its story form its sister publication the National Enquirer, which further alleges that Cruise's "smashed up ankle may be another ominous sign the disease that claimed his father has targeted Tom." In addition to the tabloid running a headline that reads, "Cruise Self-Destructs Over Cancer Diagnosis," the magazine asserts that since cancer can spread to the bones, "fractures are often the first noticeable symptom of cancer."
Allow Gossip Cop to set the record straight. Cruise did not break his ankle because he may have cancer. That's absurd. He shattered it because he didn't clear the other rooftop during a stunt and his foot smacked against a wall. Additionally, he's not a daredevil or reckless because he fears he'll "die young" of the same cancer that claimed his father. A source assures us the website and the magazine's contentions are absurd and unfounded. We're told the allegations are entirely "untrue."
The two outlets have published a slew of inaccurate articles about Cruise over the years. Just two weeks ago, for example, Gossip Cop busted a story from both of them that falsely alleged Cruise was doing a custody deal for daughter Suri with Katie Holmes. Those reports also allegedly relied on supposed insiders. And like that claim, the latest one about Cruise being "reckless" because he "fears he'll dies early like his dad" is also 100 percent wrong.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
