Tom Cruise is not leaving Scientology so he can see his 13-year-old daughter Suri again, despite a false report. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus narrative, which has emerged many times in the past. It's simply not the case.
According to In Touch, however, the movie star is cutting ties with his religion to reunite with his estranged daughter, whom he shares with ex-wife Katie Holmes. Cruise hasn't seen the young girl or her mother in several years, and it's widely believed his faith forbids him from having a relationship with anyone who's left the church. An alleged insider tells the magazine the actor has had a sudden change of heart.
"He saw a photo of Suri looking all grown up, and it changed everything," says the questionable source. "Tom has sacrificed the most important things in his life for Scientology. If he ever were to escape Scientology, it would be because of his daughter. With Katie single again, and Suri not having a father figure in her life, it's the perfect opportunity to reach out. He would be able to make up for lost time before it's too late."
From there, the tipster warns that Cruise could face "unspoken consequences" should he decide to defect from the organization, which might try to retaliate against him. "Church leaders are obsessed with his every move," says the seemingly phony source. "They know Tom's darkest secrets from auditing sessions. It'd be his worst nightmare if they got out."
In reality, Cruise has been a dedicated member of Scientology for more than 30 years and there's no indication he ever plans to leave the church. There's also no sign that a reunion with Suri is in the works. In fact, Gossip Cop busted In Touch back in June 2017 for wrongly reporting that Cruise planned to reconnect with his daughter. It didn't happen more than two years ago and it's no closer to happening now.
In January 2018, Gossip Cop called out the tabloid's sister publication, Star, for making up a similar story about Cruise quitting Scientology to reunite with Suri. In the time since we corrected that article, the movie star built a penthouse apartment near the church's headquarters in Clearwater, Florida, which he's made his home base when he's not traveling for work.
Just two months ago, In Touch concocted a similar report alleging Cruise was planning to "tell all" about Scientology and why he hasn't see his daughter in years. That article, however, indicated that that the actor had already sent a message to Holmes asking to see Suri again. This latest piece simply says he's been thinking about it. The unreliable outlet can't even keep track of its own phony narrative. Regardless, Gossip Cop is assured by sources close to the situation that this latest take on the subject is more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
