A blog claims Tom Cruise is demanding that the cast and crew of Mission: Impossible get in shape before they start shooting the back-to-back sequels or they’ll be fired. The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.

According to RadarOnline, the movie star has given everyone involved in the Mission: Impossible franchise an ultimatum to get fit “or get out” as they prep for the next two films in the series, which are being shot simultaneously. An alleged insider tells the outlet that Cruise wants “everyone he works with to be fit and healthy, whether they like it or not.”

The supposed source further contends that Cruise wants to ensure the cast and crew “has the energy required to make these big blockbusters,” and has even pressured director Christopher McQuarrie into “waking up at the crack of dawn every single day and heading to the gym.” The seemingly phony source adds, “It’s his way or the highway!”

The blog’s story is simply fabricated. Gossip Cop checked in with a source involved in the production of the upcoming Mission: Impossible movies, and we’re assured there’s no truth to the website’s article. In fact, while promoting Mission: Impossible – Fallout on James Corden’s “Late Late Show” last year, Cruise revealed that he gives out dessert to the cast and crew because he can’t eat it himself.

“I like to send people cakes and stuff like that,” Cruise said on the late night talk show. “I love sugar but I can’t eat it because I’m training doing all these movies, so I send it to everyone.” The movie star went on to joke that he vicariously enjoys sweets through his colleagues, adding, “I send it to the stunt team and I wait for the calls.” Corden even quipped, “This is how you look so good. You make everyone around you fat.”

Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible cast members Henry Cavill, Simon Pegg and Angela Bassett have all confirmed in separate interviews that Cruise has sent them cakes. Simply put, the idea that the actor is threatening to fire any colleague who’s not in shape is flat-out absurd.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to debunk a phony story about the movie star supposedly imposing his will on his co-workers. Earlier this year, Gossip Cop busted RadarOnline’s sister outlet, the Globe, for falsely claiming Cruise was trying to recruit his Top Gun: Maverick co-stars for Scientology. We also debunked a bogus story about Cruise yelling at the crew of Jack Reacher for littering on set. These various reports involving the actor’s behavior behind the scenes of his films are baseless.
