Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorced back in 2012, but the ex-spouses continue to be the joint subjects of bogus tabloid stories. Gossip Cop has debunked several false articles about the pair as of late. Here are five recent wrong rumors about the exes.
Last month, Gossip Cop called out Star for wrongly reporting that Cruise and Holmes had their legal teams work out a deal for the actor to reunite with his 12-year-old daughter Suri after years of being estranged. It was said the exes had agreed to set up a meeting in London. The story came from an anonymous and untraceable "source," but Holmes' own spokesperson said on the record it was fabricated. Obviously, no such reunion has taken place.
Gossip Cop busted OK! Australia in May for falsely claiming that Cruise had banned his ex-wife from attending this year's Met Gala. The actor, a devoted Scientologist, was said to have prohibited Holmes from going to the event due to its Catholic theme. A rep for Holmes, however, told us the real reason she couldn't attend the gala was because she was out of town working. The assertion that her ex-husband forbids her from publicly supporting religions other than Scientology isn't true either. During a 2016 appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden," Holmes revealed her favorite Christmas song. Later that year, Holmes revealed on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" that she still goes Christmas caroling. The actress clearly isn't forbidden from discussing her faith.
Back in February, Life & Style alleged that Cruise was furious about Holmes having a baby with Jamie Foxx. Only, Holmes and Foxx didn't have a child together, so the movie star wasn't angry about an imaginary scenario. It's recently been reported that Holmes and Foxx's romance is going strong, but as time has shown, they're not having a baby.
Last December, New Idea made up a story about Cruise being in a "fury" over Holmes supposedly helping their daughter Suri break into show business. But Cruise hasn't seen Suri in a number of years and doesn't play a role in her life, so the premise didn't make much sense. Not only did a Holmes insider debunk the claim, but time has shown that the young girl isn't pursuing a career in the entertainment industry. Instead, Suri has been spending the summer traveling with her mom.
And finally, Star published a ridiculous cover story in June 2017 saying that Holmes was writing a tell-all book about her marriage to Cruise. Some of the topics that would supposedly be covered included Scientology's role in their divorce and the reason the actor hasn't seen his daughter in years. At the time the article was written, a rep for Holmes exclusively assured Gossip Cop the actress didn't have a book in the works. More than a year later, no tell-all was ever released, nor is there one in any stage of development.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
