Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' 12-year-old daughter Suri never started an acting career, despite a report from a year ago claiming the young girl was going into show business. Gossip Cop debunked the report as soon as it emerged. It remains untrue 12 months later.
On August 9, 2017, Gossip Cop busted the National Enquirer for wrongly reporting that Suri was taking acting lessons because she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her famous parents. At the time, an alleged insider told the magazine that Holmes was taking her daughter to see a renowned New York acting coach who would turn her into a Hollywood star.
The magazine's story was based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable tipster, but a rep for Holmes told Gossip Cop on the record it was simply "not true." It's now 365 days later, and as we rightly said last year, the pre-teen hasn't taken on any acting roles, nor is she in the process of looking for work in the entertainment industry.
A few weeks after the magazine's phony story was published last year, Suri was spotted going back-to-school shopping with Holmes. The young girl continued attending private school in New York City until the semester ended a few months ago. In the time since, Suri and her mom have been spending much of the summer traveling around the globe. She hasn't, however, been appearing in Hollywood productions or going on auditions.
Unfortunately, this bogus narrative has cropped up several times since we debunked it last August. Last December, Gossip Cop busted New Idea for making up a story about Cruise being in a "fury" over Suri going into show business. Of course, the 12-year-old hasn't gone into the entertainment industry so there was never a reason for Cruise to be furious. It should also be noted, the actor has been estranged from his daughter for several years and doesn't appear to have any involvement in her life.
Meanwhile, Gossip Cop called out NW in February for falsely claiming that Suri was auditioning for acting roles and hoped to star on her own Disney Channel series. The following month, Woman's Day wrongly reported that Suri had signed with a top Hollywood talent agency. For every story mentioned above, the tabloids hid behind unnamed "sources" who clearly had no insight into the young girl's life. On the flip side, Holmes' spokesperson has repeatedly told us on the record that her daughter has no plans to act at this time.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
