Tom Cruise is not begging Demi Moore to be his so-called "Scientology bride," despite a ridiculous tabloid report. There's no truth to the story. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to NW, however, Moore is on the verge of joining Scientology and her former A Few Good Men co-star is the one who's recruiting her. "They became great friends and stayed in touch, but lately things have been heating up," a supposed insider tells the outlet. "Friends are convinced Tom's going to make Demi his next Scientology bride."
The alleged source continues, "The chemistry between them is sizzling, but what gets Tom and his Scientology pals excited is the prospect of immersing Demi into the teachings of the church." The suspicious tipster goes on to say that Cruise and Moore have been enjoying secret dates, but these get-togethers always include "lectures" about Scientology founder L. Run Hubbard.
"The word among the church is that Demi is days away from signing," adds the seemingly nonexistent insider. "Tom must be thrilled - he's been lonely for so long. Scientologists have been wanting to get Demi on board for years and are eager for Tom to find a new wife who can join him as their 'face.'"
Nothing about the magazine's report is accurate. In fact, it was seemingly written simply because Moore spoke about Cruise during an interview on The Howard Stern Show earlier this month. The actress revealed on the radio show that she failed an audition to co-star alongside Cruise in Top Gun. Naturally, the actress made no mention of the two reconnecting anytime as of late. The tabloid seems to have come up with its premise simply because Moore mentioned Cruise's name in a recent interview.
Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who dismissed the publication's article as nonsense. It's also worth noting, this isn't the first time NW has come up with a story about Cruise pursuing an actress to join his religion. In July, we called out the magazine for falsely claiming Cruise wanted to date Dakota Johnson and make her a Scientologist in the process.
The tabloid isn't much better when it comes to reporting about Moore's love life. Last year, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for making up a story about Moore being in a "love triangle" with Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller. Not a single aspect of that article was remotely true. This latest one involving Moore and Cruise is more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
