Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bundchen are not living separate lives. A ridiculous tabloid report claiming they are is wrong. Gossip Cop can debunk the story.

This week's issue of Star has a piece alleging the superstar quarterback and the supermodel have "drifted apart." A supposed "source" tells the tabloid, "They've realized they're two very different people. He likes a structured life and she's all over the place - he'll come home to a note saying she's gone to Costa Rica to meditate!" The unreliable outlet hedges at the end of the article by quoting the unnamed source as saying, "She does her thing and he does his, and they're happier that way. That's not to say they don't care for each other, they do - in their own way."

So, the tabloid says their "living separate lives" but that they "like it that way?" What is the point of this story anyway? This bogus report all stems from an interview the Super Bowl champion did with E! News recently. The tabloid, of course, takes a couple of quotes out of context and invents a completely phony narrative around those quotes. The quote the outlet pulled, "I'm going one way and she's going in the other," has nothing to do with living separate lives. In the interview, Brady spoke about how they're both ambitious people with hectic schedules, and because they are, they're often moving past each other on the way to a football game or a modeling shoot.

One very important detail the tabloid leaves out is the next part of Brady's quote: "I think we have to make sure we take time for one another. If you want it to get better and improve, you got to communicate." The publication completely reverses the point Brady was trying to make by leaving out that crucial sentence. He wasn't saying they live separate lives - he was saying they work hard not to - despite both having busy careers. Brady added, "I want to support her and her dreams, and she wants to support me and mine."

That sentiment was backed up by Bundchen in an Instagram post around the same time as Brady's interview. The supermodel posted a picture of the couple hugging, saying, "My friends always ask me as a Brazilian how do I survive the New England cold. I have a really cozy @tombrady blanket." The couple is very much living life together.

This phony premise of "living separate lives" has been used by Star before. Last November, the outlet claimed Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell were headed for a split because they were living separate lives. That article also quoted an anonymous source as saying Hawn and Russell "have been living separate lives for some time now — and while they've always enjoyed their independence, their arrangement may have finally taken its toll." That story was also debunked by Gossip Cop, by citing numerous examples of quotes from the couple in recent months.

In May 2018, the same tabloid claimed Will Smith and Jada Pinkett were living separate lives. Star's track record of predicting a divorce between the two is abysmal, as Gossip Cop pointed out when we busted that story. The article was so clearly made up, like claiming the couple had not seen each other in over a year and half. It took us no time to find several examples of the couple spending together. This publication has no shame in inventing false stories to sell papers.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
