Tobey Maguire isn’t in the midst of a custody battle with estranged wife Jennifer Meyer, despite a bogus new tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this fake news.

The actor and jewelry designer separated last October after nine years of marriage, and an article in the latest issue of OK! now alleges the split has turned ugly. A supposed “source” tells the magazine that Meyer is seeking full custody of their two kids, 10-year-old daughter Ruby and 8-year-old son Otis, because “Tobey’s become totally detached and self-absorbed and just isn’t a welcome presence as far as Jen’s concerned.”

The outlet’s seemingly phony insider goes on to claim Maguire will “see the kids for a few hours during the week, but he’s not up to the task of watching them because he’s almost always hungover.” The questionable source adds, “Until he cleans up his act, they’ll stay under her care.” Gossip Cop, however, looked into the magazine’s report, and we’ve learned there’s nothing remotely true about any of it.

A rep for Maguire assures us the entire story is “false nonsense.” We’re further told, “There isn’t any pending divorce, and therefore no child custody filings. Tobey and Jennifer have a great relationship raising their children together, which you can see from the many recent published photos of them out and about doing family things with their children.” Simply put, OK! has concocted nonexistent drama surrounding the ex-couple’s separation.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to correct a false story about the estranged spouses. Gossip Cop previously busted OK! for falsely claiming Maguire was worried his movie career would be ruined following his split from Meyer, whose father is a top Hollywood executive. Shortly before that nonsense, we called out the tabloid’s sister publication, Star, for wrongly reporting Maguire’s gambling caused his separation. This latest article is equally bogus.
