Timothee Chalamet is being accused by a tabloid of being a “diva” on the set of the upcoming film, Dune. The claim is totally untrue. Gossip Cop has investigated it and we can bust the phony report.

An article in the latest issue of Life & Style alleges Chalamet “wanted to be treated [like a king]” on the set of the highly anticipated remake of Dune, the sci-fi classic based on a book by Frank Herbert and first made into a movie in 1984. The tabloid quotes an unnamed “behind-the-scenes” source as saying, “There were a few complaints about Timothee being on his phone all day, not engaging with the other cast and crew members.”

The actor’s behavior supposedly got to the point where his colleagues decided to call him out on it, according to the so-called source. “Fortunately the staff had no problem telling Timothee to get his act together. It was a good thing, because there’s going to be a second movie!”

The magazine, however, only gets one thing correct: there will likely be a second Dune movie. That much is true, but everything else is false. For starters, the timing of this story is very suspicious. Dune wrapped filming in July and has been in post-production for the last four months. According to CinemaBlend, “Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is ‘in the can’ so to speak, and principal photography is officially done.” The website further noted that the film’s cast has “already moved on to other projects in accordance with their busy schedules.” If the magazine’s claims about Chalamet’s on-set demeanor were true, it seems they would have come out months ago when the star’s supposed bad behavior was happening.

The news didn’t come out then, because the accusation isn’t true. In a recent interview, Chalamet called the film the “craziest shoot of his life” in a “wow, look at all these things they built way.” High praise for the crew. Additionally, fellow actors have praised Chalamet on other projects as well. The actor’s rumored girlfriend, Lily-Rose Depp, called working with Chalamet on the Netflix movie The King “incredible.” Greta Gerwig cast him in her upcoming movie Little Women after previously directing him in 2017’s Lady Bird. Contrary to the tabloid’s story, the actor seems to build strong relationships on set. Finally, Gossip Cop check with our own source involved in the production of Dune, who tells us the story is completely false.

It’s impossible to trust tabloids on reports like this one, as it’s a recurring and baseless theme. For example, in May 2018, Life & Style’s sister publication, the National Enquirer, made the same accusation about Emma Watson. That article claimed Watson was a “diva” on every film set. Interesting, that story also came at a time when the actress wasn’t filming anything, much like Chalamet today.

Life & Style also often gets other “behind the scenes” claims very wrong. Just two weeks ago, the tabloid wrote a piece claiming Angelina Jolie was flirting with Kit Harington on the set of Marvel’s Eternals. That story, like this current one, was completely bogus. The tabloid doesn’t seem to have any real “inside” sources on any movie sets.
