The Weeknd is not “creating a rift” between Selena Gomez and her family, despite a bogus new report alleging the R&B singer is forcing his girlfriend to spend less time with her loved ones. Gossip Cop looked into the alleged drama and we’ve exclusively learned the truth.

According to a new article posted on OK!’s website, The Weeknd wants his girlfriend all to himself, and her friends and family have noticed she’s been more distant lately. A so-called “source” tells the magazine that the musician “managed to wall off Selena from a lot of her family and friends who used to be her lifeline.” The outlet’s dubious insider goes on to say the couple is “in each other’s works lives and personal lives 100 percent of the time,” but they “haven’t focused on time with Selena’s family.”

The seemingly phony source goes on to make the absurd claim that The Weeknd will only associate with other celebrities and artists, which is why he’s allegedly shunned her family. “The Weekend seems himself as the heir to Prince and is trying to have that kind of lifestyle and career, and that means a girlfriend’s extended family who aren’t in show business are simply not going to be welcome,” says the questionable insider. “Selena’s L.A. based friends and family have noticed a distinct change in the last year, and they’re not happy at being shut out.”

But Gossip Cop checked in with Gomez’s mom, Mandy Teefey, who exclusively assures us the tabloid’s story is “not true in any capacity.” She further tells us her daughter’s boyfriend “has been nothing but respectful, supportive and caring.” Despite the outlet’s insistence on creating nonexistent drama in the famous couple’s relationship, this is simply a non-issue.

Unfortunately, OK! has published several phony articles about the music superstars, so this latest piece of fiction isn’t surprising. Gossip Cop recently busted the tabloid for falsely claiming The Weeknd was jealous of Gomez working with Jude Law in an upcoming movie. Shortly before that nonsense, we debunked the magazine’s story about Gomez being a “stage 5 clinger.” This latest article is more lies from the untrustworthy publication.
