The View Republican Town Halls

On Wednesday, “The View” co-hosts debated the Republican town halls that have been inundated with protestors who are against GOP lawmakers’ actions on Obamacare. Watch below.

“I love it. I like it because this is like a ‘power to the people’ feeling,” Jedediah Bila said. She argued of representatives, “You’re responsible to explain your agenda to the people [and] you have a responsibility to answer their questions.” She added, “So no matter what side of the aisle you’re on, I am a ‘power to the people’ girl, and I applaud these people for expressing how they feel to these politicians.”

Sara Haines called it a “nice reminder” and “good reminder” of the power that constituents have. “These are the people who are going to vote them back in or not,” she said of the protestors. At many of these town halls, Obamacare has been a hot topic, with participants saying they don’t want the Affordable Care Act repealed. To Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin, this is proof of the legislation’s popularity.

But Bila insisted, “If Obamacare was really popular among people, Hillary Clinton would be president right now.” Behar countered that many Trump voters weren’t aware that the ACA and Obamacare are the same thing, but Bila shot back, “You can’t paint all Donald Trump voters as stupid, though.” That led to the talk show’s umpteenth debate on the pros and cons of President Obama’s healthcare plan.

Behar later got back to the original subject of the town halls, saying, “It is a very good place to confront these people on their lies.” And, amid conspiracy claims that the protestors are actors, Whoopi Goldberg stressed, “People are not paid to do this. People are pissed off.” Check out the video below.
