On Thursday’s “The View,” the co-hosts reacted to LeBron James’ home being vandalized with racist graffiti. Watch the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, James’ Los Angeles home was spray painted with the n-word on early Wednesday morning by an unidentified perpetrator. The shocking incident prompted the co-hosts of “The View” to discuss the role of racism in today’s society and how it effects black celebrities. Co-host Jedediah Bila offered, “I’ve had conversations with people who will say to me, ‘Racism is dead, that’s a thing of the past.’ And I’m always saying, ‘No it’s not.'” She added, “I feel like that sentiment should be something that’s a thing of the past, but until we acknowledge that it’s not dead, we’re not going to eradicate it or face it.”

Bila went on to commend James’ “level of composure” while addressing the crime during a Cleveland Cavaliers press conference on Wednesday. Joy Behar then opined that bigoted people often target famous African American figures because “they’re jealous that a black guy could achieve so much in his life.” Fellow host Sunny Hostin admitted that since joining the morning talk show and becoming more well-known, she’s “received more hate mail calling me the n-word than ever in my career. It’s so hurtful and so hateful.”

But Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t particularly surprised by the racially-driven vandalism, noting, “Racism has been institutional in this country.” She added, “Here’s the bottom line. No one’s going anywhere. Americans come in all shapes and sizes, all colors… And none of us are leaving.” Goldberg concluded, “The reason people are here is because this is one of the few countries on the face of the earth where you can be who you are and nobody’s going to take that away.” Watch the full segment in the video below.
