“The View” co-hosts on Tuesday weighed in on the premiere of Rachel Lindsay’s “The Bachelorette” season. Check out the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, Lindsay’s “Bachelorette” season premiered on Monday, featuring the limo entrances and first rose ceremony. During the episode, the reality star said that although she is the first black Bachelorette, she wants this season to be like any other. That prompted Whoopi Goldberg to ask on the ABC talk show, “Can it be like any old regular season?”

After the audience shouted “no,” Goldberg said, “Well she doesn’t apparently know this. I kinda feel like it might add a new layer to it.” Jedediah Bila agreed it “could add another layer,” and was pleased that ABC not only picked someone of color, but also someone who, at 32, is older than the typical lead. “Usually they’re super young, she noted.

Commented Sunny Hostin, “I think it’s very interesting that they added this layer of race. Because I think as a society, we’re still uncomfortable with interracial relationships.” The lawyer is the product of an interracial marriage, and touched on the reactions she would get when out with her parents. Goldberg remarked, “Well, people have to get over it, because love doesn’t care. You love who you love… Love is love. That’s what it is.”

“I’m sad that it took this long,” Bila added, explaining, “When I watch TV shows, I want people at home to be able to find themselves in every show… I think it’s a little late.” Goldberg pointed out, “People do want to see people who represent them on television, but we’re finding there’s issues sometimes, if it’s a gay person or a transgender person or an interracial person.”

The panelists also discussed Lindsay’s first kiss of the season, which came during an unexpected moment with a contestant named Bryan, who impulsively smooched her. Watching the clip, Bila was ready to vomit, exclaiming “Don’t do that!… Men, you should have to work for that kiss. I’m just saying that straight off the bat.” Hostin was also disgusted, and surprised that Lindsay then gave Bryan the “first impression rose.”

Cracked Goldberg, “I’m not surprised by that. It’s ‘The Bachelorette.’ Have you not seen this before? They do much more than that.” Watch the videos below.
