The View Manafort Indictment

On Monday’s “The View,” the co-hosts reacted to Paul Manafort being indicted. Sunny Hostin and Meghan McCain also fought over Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Watch the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, Manafort’s indictment was announced early Monday morning, and he surrendered shortly after. The former campaign manager for Trump and business associate Rick Gates, who also worked for the campaign, were charged with 12 counts, including conspiracy against the United States and being an unregistered agent of a foreign principal. In response, Trump tweeted, “Sorry, but this is years ago, before Paul Manafort was part of the Trump campaign. But why aren’t Crooked Hillary & the Dems the focus????? ….Also, there is NO COLLUSION!”

Now on the ABC talk show, Whoopi Goldberg kicked things off by saying the “morning has been rather interesting.” The audience cheered after she showed a fictional, viral video of Trump himself being arrested, along with other administration staffers. While Goldberg stressed that it’s not real footage, Behar cracked, “It’s not real yet.” Sara Haines, commenting on Trump’s tweets, noted, “This [alleged] behavior [by Manafort] actually goes into 2016 so it was into the actual campaign, so that is not a true statement.” She also expressed a feeling of vindication over those who thought her interest in this subject was ridiculous. “This nothing burger tastes really good. Anyone else?” she asked, adding, “I just feel a little better, because I was beginning to think, ‘Is it all in my head? Are all these coincidences?'”

McCain, however, brought up Clinton and the DNC’s alleged ties to the Steele dossier, and also expressed disgust over the “humor and levity” some have shown in response to the indictment. Her point was that there’s misbehavior going on “both sides.” That enraged Hostin, who angrily exclaimed, “Let’s not talk about both sides! Hillary Clinton is not the president, and Hillary Clinton was not just indicted!” McCain said she was “trying to give you guys insight,” to which Hostin shot back, “We don’t need insight into Hillary Clinton.”

So, McCain then spoke about Manafort, saying he’s been known as “ethically ambiguous,” and said he “raised a lot of alarms” when he was hired for the Trump campaign. “Your campaign operatives are a reflection of the candidate,” she pointed out. But then the conservative commentator brought up Clinton again, prompting Behar to tell her, “It’s a distraction, Meghan.” Hostin, still angry, incredulously said, “Why are we even talking about Hillary? Why are we talking about the DNC? Why aren’t we talking about the two people who were just indicted?” And when McCain brought up Barack Obama, Hostin yelled, “President Obama was not indicted today!”

McCain claimed she just wanted to stress not to “underestimate the politicization of this.” Behar then specifically targeted Trump, saying, “If he’s innocent… let’s see your tax returns. That will pretty much straighten everything out.” “I think that’s true,” agreed Hostin. She then marveled, “We danced around every topic except what happened today.” But the conversation was cut off with a commercial break. Check out the video below.
