Miley Cyrus sparked a debate on “The View” on Wednesday after saying she wants to move on from her infamous “Wrecking Ball” music video. Watch the video below.

In the music clip, Cyrus was completely naked as she swung on an actual wrecking ball. In a recent interview, she expressed regrets over the footage, as well as fears that the video is for what she’ll be remembered. Now on the ABC talk show, Whoopi Goldberg stated, “She seems to be really shocked that this is part of her legacy.”

“She’s sorry she did it,” concluded Joy Behar, prompting Goldberg to ask, “Isn’t that what consequences are?” Jedediah Bila responded, “I think you gotta own it. This is part of the reason she’s successful. Some of her fans look back on that and they love it.” She compared it to how she feels about loving celebrities’ old TV shows, but the stars not wanting to discuss it.

Bila says she wants to reply in those cases, “This is how I got to know you and I think it’s amazing what you did after, but I still bonded with that person in that show.” Asked if pointing that is okay or bothersome, Goldberg spoke from experience by saying the latter. “Let me explain why: That’s what you’re looking for. Now multiply yourself by 100,” the moderator said. “You’re the 9,000th request.” She noted that with own her career and things like The Color Purple, “For me it’s 30 years ago. You just saw it. I’ve made 50, 60 movies since then.”

Sunny Hostin also came to Cyrus’ defense, expressing symathy for her desire to move on. “What’s interesting to me is that actors, people, aren’t allowed the chance to evolve or change. That’s not cool,” she said, going on to argue, “I’ve changed my mind [on issues], and I think we should be allowed to evolve. Remember Angelina Jolie? She used to have the blood necklace… Now she’s a humanitarian.” Check out the video below.
