On Monday’s “The View,” the co-hosts reacted to Hasan Minhaj mocking Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, while the president bashed the media at a rally. Watch below.

As Gossip Cop reported, Trump was the first president in decades to skip the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where host Minhaj made pointed jokes about him, as well as the press. Instead of attending, Trump held a rally in Pennsylvania, where he slammed both journalism and Hollywood stars. Sunny Hostin was at the WHCD, and now on the ABC talk show, she said of Minhaj, “The room was with him. That’s a pretty big job… He seemed to read the room well. We were laughing with him.”

Jedediah Bila praised, “If you listen actually to what Hasan did, he picked on everybody.” She pointed out that the right often views the WHCD as being part of the “Hollywood media bubble,” but Hostin countered, “It was not like that this year. That’s what’s interesting… It brought journalism back into the spotlight.”

Of Trump, Joy Behar said, “He really should be careful about attacking the media. Woodward and Bernstein were there [at the WHCD]. And let us not forget Woodward and Bernstein took down a president. The press can take a president down. And that’s what he’s threatened by.” She went on to note, “He wasn’t so cavalier against Hollywood back in the day,” and played a clip of Trump acting silly at the Emmy Awards a few years ago. She then declared, “Ladies and gentleman, the leader of the free world!”

Bila observed, “The lesson here is Donald Trump love good press for him… He loved the media when the media liked him.” And Sara Haines commented, “I think he wanted to be this big celebrity movie star, and it didn’t work out for him.” Hostin also made mention of skinheads allegedly being at Trump’s rally, where the president said his group of people was much better than those at the dinner in Washington.

She angrily asked, “How are those folks better than who I was sitting with at the White House Correspondents Dinner?” The discussion continued after a commercial break, with Bila pointing out that there are non-bigoted people who do agree with Trump about media and the Hollywood.
