On Wednesday’s “The View,” the co-hosts slammed Donald Trump for his controversial visit to Puerto Rico. Watch the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, on Tuesday celebrities criticized Trump for his behavior during his time in Puerto Rico. He downplayed the number of deaths, joked that the devastation threw his budget “out of whack,” and literally threw paper towels to survivors as if it was a game. He also wrongly said flashlights are unneeded and actually told one family to “have a good time.” Following the negative response to the visit, the president tweeted Wednesday morning, “A great day in Puerto Rico yesterday. While some of the news coverage is Fake, most showed great warmth and friendship.” He added, “Wow, so many Fake News stories today. No matter what I do or say, they will not write or speak truth. The Fake News Media is out of control!”

Now on the ABC talk show, Whoopi Goldberg skeptically said that Trump “tried to put a positive spin on things” by saying Hurricane Maria wasn’t a “catastrophe” like Katrina. “Putting all of our personal feelings about the guy aside, how do you think he’s handling this? Is he trying to reassure people that things are going to be taken care of?” she asked. Sara Haines said that during times of tragedy, “the bar is very low for what a president needs to do,” in terms of comfort and aid, a bar Trump failed to meet.

Of the paper towel toss, Joy Behar commented, “That interested me, I have to say. Does he really think the paper towels was going to sop up the flood?” Sunny Hostin declared, “I was so offended by that.” Haines was also offended that he was “throwing basic needs at them,” and also argued, “You don’t use deaths as a talking point.” Noting that the death toll rose last night, nearly two weeks after the hurricane struck, Hostin insisted, “All of those additional deaths were preventable… People are dying and the question is, was aid received soon enough?… That falls, in my view, squarely on President Trump’s shoulders.”

And in response to Trump’s “fake news” tweets, Goldberg fired back, “Sir, it’s on tape. You’re being criticized because people are seeing. They’re not making it up. You’re not a cartoon there.” She went on to say, “Yeah, Katrina was devastating. But you also had a land mass. An island, you’re surrounded, man. C’mon, man, don’t do that.” Behar suggested “his supporters will see [the trip] differently,” and praise the president for his “friendly gesture, that he’s being lighthearted.” Goldberg countered, “There’s a time for lighthearted and there’s a time for not, and being on an island that’s devastated, I don’t think funny is the way you want to do.”

As Gossip Cop reported, “The View” debated Trump’s response to the crisis in Puerto Rico last week. “The View” also featured an interview with Governor Ricardo Rossello, who both praised the president and urged more federal help.
