The View Trump Comey Loyalty

On Monday’s “The View,” the co-hosts reacted to Donald Trump wanting loyalty from James Comey before firing him. Watch the video below.

In an interview with Jeannine Pirro, Trump refused to talk about his alleged tapes of Comey, said the former FBI director should be “honest,” and explained why he wants “loyalty” to his administration. The comments came amid reports alleging Trump fired Comey after he refused to make that pledge. After the ABC talk show played a clip of the president talking, Joy Behar cracked, “Says the liar-in-chief.”

Whoopi Goldberg observed, “Talking about loyalty to one’s country, talking about loyalty to the American people; this is the guy who’s demanding loyalty when there seems to be not one drop of loyalty in his pocketbook?” Jedediah Bila questioned why Trump said he couldn’t talk about his supposed tapes of Comey, saying, “Then why did you tweet about it? This whole thing is happening because [of you].”

What was “most telling” to Sara Haines was that Trump “does not get the basic branches of government and this needs to be an autonomous, independent agency.” Sunny Hostin went harder on Trump wanting loyalty from the guy investigating him, declaring, “That is an obstruction of justice. That is illegal… If he obstructed justice, that’s a federal crime punishable by up to 20 years.”

Bila pointed out, “You’re talking about it intellectually, but just at a very basic level, how stupid is it to ask the guy who’s investigating you?” She went on to say, “It’s scary on another level, because then you think this is the guy leading the country, this is the guy implementing policy.” And while Behar often jokes, she added quite seriously, “I’m beginning to think he has short-term memory loss. I’m not kidding.”

Goldberg also took issue with another part of Trump’s interview, specifically his suggestion his administration may do away with press conferences. Directing her comments at the president, she said, “God knows I don’t want to do anything to hasten your departure from office, [but] freedom of the press, it is our right of the people, whether we put you in there or not, you can’t hide from us.”

Goldberg even warned, “You don’t want people taking to the streets coming to get you.” Check out the videos below.
