The View Donald Trump Jr Russia Meeting

On Monday’s “The View,” the co-hosts reacted to the revelation Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer during the presidential campaign. Watch the video below.

It emerged over the weekend that Donald Trump’s son had a meeting with a Russian attorney in June 2016 under the belief he was getting information about Hillary Clinton. While Don Jr. apparently did not get what he was hoping for, he still kept the encounter a secret until now. On the ABC talk show, Whoopi Goldberg exclaimed, “Isn’t that collusion?” She also took issue with the First Son posting defenses on Twitter, telling him, “Before you start tweeting stuff, make sure you’re in the clear! That’s collusion!”

Joy Behar noted, “Just because the meeting went nowhere didn’t mean he didn’t go to get the dish.” Sunny Hostin also pointed out, “People do have meetings with folks that conduct opposition research… but not with connections to the Kremlin. That’s the problem I have.” Sara Haines was upset about this being kept under wraps, saying, “If there’s nothing there, put out all your cards in advance.” But instead, the Trump family’s connections to Russia have been “dripping” out, she said.

Behar went on to add that Jared Kushner and campaign manager Paul Manafort were at the meeting, too. “Both of them had been in a bed with Russians. It’s a huge king-size,” she cracked, adding, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” And Jedediah Bila questioned why any of them would take and trust information from this Russian attorney, anyway.

“Why would you believe anything they said?” she asked, going on declare, “Wake up: Russia’s not our friend.” From there, the panelists discussed the president’s recent meeting with Vladimir Putin, and the show even put together a mock video of what really went down during their closed-door talk.
