The View Trump Fundraising 2020

On Friday’s “The View,” the co-hosts reacted to Donald Trump already holding fundraisers for his 2020 campaign. Check out the video below.

Joy Behar kicked off the week-ending edition of the ABC talk show by noting that Trump has “1,299 days left” in the first term of his presidency. “So why is he already fundraising for his 2020 re-election campaign in his own Washington, D.C. hotel?” she asked, adding, “I think it’s time for him to do his job.”

Sara Haines noted Trump’s love of ego-boosting rallies, and Paula Faris made the case that the president is within his right and following precedent. “I don’t think that’s abnormal. It seems like he already had a 2020 campaign bid right after the inauguration,” she said. But Sunny Hostin asked, “It’s a little early, isn’t it?”

Jedediah Bila agreed with her. “This always bothers me,” she admitted, pointing out that this is an issue with both parties, whereby one side always criticizes the other when the president campaigns for reelection. As an example, she referred to how Republicans called Barack Obama the “campaigner-in-chief.” She argued, “It would be best if both sides said when you become president, stop campaigning and do your job.”

“I think it would be best if he didn’t hold fundraisers in his hotel,” commented Hostin. “You cannot be a public servant when the things that you are doing benefit your pocket. It’s against the law.” Faris replied, “I agree, but it’s not clear whether the hotel profited.”

Hostin shot back, “His business profits from it. Doesn’t it bother anyone?” Exclaimed Behar, “Yeah, me!” Gossip Cop will have video soon. Check back shortly.
