On Wednesday’s “The View,” the co-hosts reacted to Donald Trump’s new immigration guidelines on deportation. Check out the video below.

In the drafted memos, the president’s new plan seeks to deport whoever is deemed to be a “dangerous” individual, regardless of whether they have been convicted of a crime. That means whether someone poses a risk will be a subjective decision. Not only is Whoopi Goldberg against that concept, but she also doesn’t understand why Trump isn’t continuing President Obama’s protocol.

“When we talk about Obama, he deported more people based on their criminal records, and that seemed to work,” she said. “If that was working well, why are we creating chaos?” Joy Behar shot back, “Because that’s what [Trump] promised his voters.” Goldberg asked, “What, chaos?” Behar responded, “Basically.”

Sara Haines said she initially “could get on board” with Trump’s immigration plans as described when he was campaigning for president, at which time he said he wanted to deport criminals. Now, she wonders, “But where is the line of the crime drawn?… There’s a lot of grey area.” And she’s worried about giving deportation “power” to local law enforcement.

Sunny Hostin noted, “They used to call President Obama the ‘deporter-in-chief’ because he got rid of more undocumented immigrants that had committed crimes than any other president in history.” Jedediah Bila called that a “debatable fact,” and read off some polls that indicate public support for Trump’s actions on immigration and deportation.

Goldberg went on to ask, “There are lots of things we could be doing, but is [Trump] destroying what’s been done simply because Obama did it, or because he actually believes that Obama didn’t get what was happening when he was called by the immigration people the ‘deporter-in-chief’?” Watch below.
