The View Day Without Women

On Wednesday’s “The View,” the co-hosts debated A Day Without A Woman. Check out the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, on International Women’s Day, many are also supporting A Day Without A Woman. The protest calls for female employees to stay home from work and female consumers to abstain from spending money to show the impact women have on society. But on the ABC talk show, which was taping in Disney World this week, the panelists questioned the practicalities of taking such action.

Whoopi Goldberg asked, “Is this really a good way to highlight how vital women are on every level?” Jedediah Bila didn’t think so, saying, “It made me a little nervous just because, if women stay home, I worry about will they lose their jobs? Will they get fired?” She pointed that some women “don’t have the luxury to say ‘I’m staying home.’… There’s a lot implications. It sounds good on paper.”

Sunny Hostin expressed, “Closing public schools is troubling, I think. I support the message.” But she suggested, “Why not have a teach-in?” Joy Behar also noted, “We could not take the day off. Too many people rely on us for this show.”

As a counter-argument, Goldberg said, “I don’t think women who know they can’t take the day off are going to take the day off. I think the idea is if you can, do.” But she was admittedly unsure how exactly the protest was actually playing out. Watch below. NOTE: The video is no longer available.
