On Monday’s “The View,” the co-hosts reacted to Billy Bush calling out Donald Trump over the “Access Hollywood” tape. Watch the video below.

More than a year after a tape leaked of Trump telling Bush on a hot mic how he likes to grope women, it was reported the president was now claiming it’s not his voice featured in the footage. In response, Bush penned an op-ed for The New York Times, which was published online Sunday night with the headline, “Yes, Donald Trump, You Said That.” Now on the ABC talk show, Joy Behar introduced the topic by saying of Bush, “He just confirmed what we all heard with our ears, that [Trump] did say all those things on that ‘Access Hollywood’ tape and he was doing his job of fluffing up NBC’s biggest star at the time.”

What she wanted to know, though, was, “How will this play in the red states?” Responded Sara Haines, “I don’t think they cared the first time about this video and I don’t think they’re going to care the second time about the video.” Agreed guest co-host Ana Navarro, “I don’t think they care what Billy Bush has to say. They’re not reading The New York Times, which is where he has an op-ed.” That said, she observed, “Billy Bush is sitting there unemployed, seeing Donald Trump in the White House and saying, ‘What’s wrong with this picture?'”

“That’s what’s always been odd to me,” admitted Sunny Hostin. “It’s so odd to me that you have the guy who said the crass words, grab the women by their stuff, and then the guy who just kinda didn’t say anything — he did play along with it — he got fired and is unexmployable. What’s wrong with that picture?” Behar compared, “Look at all the men who have been accused of sexual harassment who are out of a job, and he’s still in office, too.”

Navarro also imagined that Bush is “asking himself, ‘Gee, all I did was stand there like an idiot and laugh along, and now you have a bunch of people in Congress who have done worse and they’re still there. And not only they’re still there, we’re paying their hush fund money.” Behar wondered why that is, to which Meghan McCain replied, “That’s the $64,000 question.” She went on to comment, “I will say that Billy Bush is looking for redemption and I think that he has to do it in one way or another.”

McCain further said, “Do I hope and pray the men in my life wouldn’t behave in such a fashion had a man ben talking that way? Yes, of course. Do I think he knows he made a huge mistake? Yes. I think if Billy Bush wants a career, this is exactly the right route. Go into activism of some kind. I think your entertainment career is long dead and gone. I think if you want to be someone who’s part of the resistance, that’s where I would tell him [to go]. Especially with the last name Bush, it might be pretty powerful.”

As for Trump now claiming, at least privately, that the tape isn’t legitimate, Behar asked, “Is it delusion? Is it mental illness? Or is it a lie?” Hostin argued, “He is well-versed in saying things that aren’t true and people believe it,” while Haines said the president believes “if you put [the idea] out there, it becomes true.” As Gossip Cop reported, “The View” previously discussed Bush wanting “back on TV” in April.
