The View Scaramucci Interview

On Friday’s “The View,” the co-hosts reacted to Anthony Scaramucci’s profanity-laced interview about presidential advisors Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus. Watch the video below.

On Wednesday, Scaramucci called a New Yorker reporter to rant about Donald Trump’s chief strategist and his chief of staff. He made an explicit sexual reference about Bannon, and suggested Priebus will soon be fired. After the quotes were released on Thursday evening, the communications director tweeted that he won’t use such language in the future, but also claimed the writer abused his trust.

Now on the ABC talk show, Joy Behar kicked off the show by saying, “There’s so many crazy things happening this week, I barely know how where to begin.” She read aloud censored versions of Scaramucci’s comments, and then quipped, “I can’t believe what he said, but suffice it to say, Bannon must have a Craftmatic adjustable bed.” Guest co-host Tara Setmayer cracked, “If he could do that, he wouldn’t need to work.”

Behar said, “What I’m trying to figure out with the Mooch, he gave this interview to Ryan Lizza, and he says that he didn’t think it was on the record.” Responded Bila, “Nonsense. He knows it was on the record and he wanted it on the record.” She suggested Scaramucci is trying to show the president, through his language, that he’s a like-minded ally. She reminded, “Donald Trump got elected talking very bluntly.”

Sunny Hostin disagreed, “I actually don’t believe that. I think it was a rookie mistake,” and pointed out Scaramucci’s tweet suggesting he thought he was talking off the record. But Bila thought that was a made-up excuse that “enables him to then say it was the media’s fault.” Setmeyer also wasn’t buying the possibility that the “Mooch” got played, arguing, “He is not that naive.” She also said of the Trump administration, “They never take responsibility for anything.”

Hostin said that if Scaramucci really was talking on the record, it’s “shocking,” because he seemed to suggest collusion with the FBI. “He obviously doesn’t understand the line between the president and the FBI,” said the former federal prosecutor, which prompted Setamayer to reply, “The president doesn’t either, so why do you expect his subordinates to?” Added Sara Haines, “If it is strategy, they know the media goes for sensational headlines.”

And as a result, the public is being distracted from other issues, like Russia and healthcare. “Mooch is that calculated, because he knows he’s going to get out there and get attention,” Setmayer remarked as the panelists went on to discuss whether this will kick off a power war between Bannon and Scaramucci for Trump’s affection. As Gossip Cop reported, yesterday the co-hosts discussed Scaramucci suggesting Priebus is a White House leaker. At the time, they had no idea he had made these other inflammatory remarks, which weren’t released for another few hours. Check out the new video below.
