The Sun is flip-flopping on its claims there will be a Spice Girls reunion with Victoria Beckham. A week after Gossip Cop busted the British tabloid for wrongly claiming all five singers were getting back together in 2018, the newspaper is now acknowledging it's not happening.
As Gossip Cop reported, the UK publication originally insisted the Spice Girls were making plans to record a new album and do a TV special next year. A so-called "source" was quoted as saying, "The five of them have been locked in secret talks since the summer, and finally they are all on-board for a 2018 reunion." This misinformed tipster further asserted, "Getting Victoria to agree has been a coup for everyone involved, given she has always been the person holding back on a reunion."
But Beckham's rep told Gossip Cop exclusively, "Victoria has a lot of love and respect for the Spice Girls and the fun they had, but her future focus is fashion and family only." In addition, another source close to the situation called the claims of a reunion with all five members "utter nonsense." And Beckham herself backed up our reporting when she was asked about the allegations during an interview broadcast on ITV's "This Morning" on Monday.
Now The Sun is announcing in a headline, "NOT SO VIVA FOREVER: Victoria Beckham turns her nose up at Spice Girls reunion and says 'you need to know when to stop.'" The paper writes, "Victoria Beckham stated that she will not be coaxed into doing a Spice Girls reunion. The 43-year-old fashion designer and former pop star made her views on a reunion clear in an interview today, categorically saying: 'It is not happening.'"
Nowhere in this new article does the outlet address that it wrongly alleged only days ago that Beckham was, in fact, participating a Spice Girls reunion. In addition, the original story has not been updated with a correction. Rather than taking responsibility for misinforming fans, the tabloid is pretending it never happened. But Gossip Cop has screengrabs of the two contrasting headlines below.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
