The Hitman's Bodyguard Box Office Second Weekend

The Hitman’s Bodyguard won the box office for the second week in a row amid a quiet, lackluster weekend. With Hurricane Harvey, kids returning to school and many staying home Saturday night for the Mayweather-McGregor fight, expectations were already low. Get the details, and check out the grosses for the Top 10 movies below.

As Gossip Cop has reported, The Hitman’s Bodyguard is an action-comedy movie starring Ryan Reynolds as the bodyguard and Samuel L. Jackson as the hitman. With Jackson’s hitman needed to testify against a dictator who kills off witnesses before they can take the stand, Reynolds’ bodyguard ends up providing protection. Naturally, they don’t exactly get along. Despite mediocre reviews, the film opened in first place last week, and now without any strong new competition, it hung on to its number-one ranking with $10.1 million in ticket sales.

That measly amount was enough for the top spot. Still, there was a big drop for the number two position, which Anabelle: Creation secured with only $7.4 million. The new animated movie Leap! opened in third place with $5 million. Meanwhile, Wind River battled it out with Logan Lucky for the fourth and fifth positions with $4.4 million and $4.3 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Dunkirk, which earned sixth and $4 million. Coming in seventh was Spider-Man: Homecoming. It made $2.7 million. That was followed by Birth Of The Dragon, a new martial arts film, that debuted in eighth with $2.5 million. The Emoji Movie took ninth with $2.4 million. And just making it into the Top 10 was Girls Trip, which earned $2.3 million. It edged out The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature for the final spot.
