One of this week's tabloids claims Terri Irwin is marrying Russell Crowe, and her daughter Bindi is tying the knot with boyfriend Chandler Powell in a double wedding to be held at their zoo in Australia. The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
An article in the latest issue of the Globe says the mother and daughter are planning a joint wedding ceremony which will pay tribute to Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, who was killed by a stingray in 2006 while filming an episode of his TV show. "They're planning a safari-themed ceremony in late February at the zoo," a supposed tipster tells the magazine. "They want the ceremony to be held in a beautiful, partially shaded spot where people can enjoy the event and the animals."
The alleged source further contends that Bindi will pay tribute to her late dad by wearing a crocodile green dress, while Terri will use her vows to acknowledge her late husband. "Both she and Bindi feel strongly Steve would be delighted in seeing them moving forward," adds the seemingly phony insider. As for the guest list, Australian celebrities such as Hugh Jackman, Chris Hemsworth and Crocodile Dundee star Paul Hogan will be in attendance, according to the publication.
There's one major flaw with the magazine's tale: Terri isn't dating Crowe. The Australian zoo owner has been linked to the actor for years, but the two are simply longtime friends and have never been romantically involved. In fact, Terri joked about the romance rumors surrounding her and Crowe during an appearance on the Australian talk show "The Sunday Project" in December. After jokingly telling the hosts she's "desperately and totally in love" with the actor, the wildlife conservationist then confirmed they're just good pals.
Meanwhile, Bindi said just a few months ago that she and Powell aren't engaged or rushing down the aisle anytime soon. "I'm 20, I'm loving every minute of my life and I really love this guy, so I just want to take my time to enjoy the now," she said about her relationship of nearly five years.
Additionally, the tabloid's report is based on claims from an unidentified "source," but a rep qualified to speak on behalf of the Irwin family confirms that Terri and Bindi don't have a double wedding in the works. It's worth noting, the Globe is the same outlet that Gossip Cop busted last week for falsely claiming Crowe was eating himself to death. Fortunately, there was no truth to the story, so the actor should be in tip-top shape for his imaginary wedding.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
