Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke opened Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars” premiere with a cha cha that was called “full of fun.” They danced to The Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg.” Watch the video below.

A former football star, Owens recently said on “Good Morning America” that competing on “Dancing With The Stars” was going to “be a challenge” but that he was up for it. Arguably, having been an NFL player, Owens might have an advantage. In the past, a number of gridiron greats have won the Mirrorball Trophy. Among those who have been their season’s winners are Emmitt Smith, Hines Ward, Donald Driver, and Rashad Jennings, who took home the trophy last season.

Among the question marks with Owens will be his past injuries on the football field and his discipline. Sadly, as great a player as Owens was, he was also known for his controversial behavior, which lead to him being traded or released from a number of teams. However, if he moves on the dance floor like the way he celebrated touchdowns in the end zone, Owens could prove to be a formidable presence this season on “Dancing With The Stars.”

Four days before Monday’s premiere, Owens posted a picture of himself with Burke on a football field. Accompanying the picture, he expressed, “I couldn’t have been so lucky to land my partner @cherylburke. Thanks for bringing out the lil kid in me from Alexander City, AL that danced around town dancing in Michael Jackson contests.” He added, “I hope to make u proud. I know this is the beginning but just wanted to say Thanks. #TEAMGETCHAPOPCORN #DWTS #DWTS25 #dance #prototype #Prototype81.”

In his pre-taped package, Owens said he hoped to bring that his “pizzazz” to “Dancing With The Stars.” Right away when he and Burke first met, she asked him to show her some of his touchdown dance moves. He also acknowledged he had an attitude but felt it would be helpful on the dance competition series.

Following his performance, Len Goodman said, “You really got the party going. You entertained me on ‘Monday Night Football,’ and now entertained me on Monday night dancing.” He added that it was “full of fun”and “full of energy.” The judge noted it was a great way to kick off the season.

For his first routine, Owens received a total of 15 out of 30 points. Check out the video below of his cha cha to The Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars” premiere.
