Is Teresa Giudice really demanding that her four kids get paid for their appearances on the The Real Housewives Of New Jersey? That’s the untrue claim in one of this weeks’ tabloids. Gossip Cop can bust the story.

According to the National Enquirer, in light of her husband Joe’s possible deportation to Italy, Teresa is demanding that Bravo pay all of her daughters for appearing on episodes of RHONJ. Teresa and Joe both pleaded guilty to 41 federal fraud felonies in 2014, and both were sentenced to prison time. Teresa was released in December 2015 after serving 11 months behind bars, while Joe was allowed to stay home with their kids during that time.

Joe reported to federal prison in March 2016 to begin a 41-month sentence. While serving time, a judge ruled that he would be deported back to his native Italy when his prison sentence was complete. This past March, Joe was released from federal prison, but was immediately remanded to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He has been in their custody since, awaiting appeals on his deportation order.

The tabloid is using the legal crisis to create a phony story related to Teresa’s involvement on RHONJ. The outlet quotes a so-called “source” as saying, “Bravo doesn’t pay children under the age of 18. But how Teresa and their four girls – who range in age from ten to 18 – cope with Joe being deported is the main storyline.” The alleged insider adds, “With the real chance of losing their father, Teresa needs to secure the girls’ financial future.”

The 10th season of RHONJ premieres in November, and while it’s very likely that much of the show will focus on Teresa and Joe’s legal issues and family situation, the reality star isn’t demanding that her children get compensated. In fact, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards said on The Wendy Williams Show in 2018 that “just the wives [get paid]” for the franchise. The reality star confirmed that no one’s husbands or kids are paid for appearing on the show.

Still, Gossip Cop checked with Teresa’s lawyer, who tells us on the record that the story is “fake news,” and she has not been making demands for her daughters to get paid. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the tabloids have reported false information about how the Giudices’ legal issues are impacting their children. In March, the Enquirer’s sister publication, OK!, wrongly reported Teresa was moving to Los Angeles with her daughters if her husband got deported. The reality star’s lawyer assured us that scenario was “not happening” either.
