A tabloid claims Taylor Swift's exes Jake Gyllenhaal and Calvin Harris plan to team up with her other former flames to form an "ex-boyfriend club." The story is completely ridiculous. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to Star, the actor and the Scottish DJ recently struck up a friendship after meeting at a gym in Los Angeles, and are now talking about getting together with Swift's other exes, including John Mayer and Harry Styles. A supposed source tells the magazine, "Taylor is quaking in her boots from the thought of the foursome forming an ex-boyfriend club. Oh, the stories they'd tell."
The magazine's story doesn't make much sense from the start. Even if Gyllenhaal and Harris were plotting to join forces with Swift's other exes, which they aren't, how exactly did the singer find out about it? There's no explanation in the magazine, but the so-called "insider" maintains that the friendship between the two men "is a nightmare for Taylor."
The questionable tipster continues, "Everyone knows that Calvin is still burned by their breakup, and the last thing she'd want is for him and Jake to start swapping notes." The seemingly phony source goes on to say Swift has been lucky that her former boyfriends never ganged up on her in the past, "but that's all changing now that Jake and Calvin have sparked up a bromance."
The tabloid's report is based on claims from an anonymous and seemingly imaginary "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Gyllenhaal, who laughed off the story. The actor hasn't been bonding with Harris over being one of Swift's ex-boyfriends. The magazine's article has more in common with fan fiction than it does with journalism.
This isn't the first time Gossip Cop has had to debunk a phony story surrounding all those involved in this article. Back when Harris was dating Swift in 2015, we busted Star's sister outlet, the National Enquirer, for falsely claiming Gyllenhaal was trying to "steal back" the singer from her then-boyfriend.
In 2017, Gossip Cop called out Star's other sister publication, OK!, for wrongly reporting that Swift and Gyllenhaal were "dating again" following their 2010 fling. And in 2016, we debunked a story about Swift and Harris getting back together following their breakup a few months prior. In reality, Swift has long moved on from these past relationships, despite the gossip media being unable to do so. This latest article surrounding the singer and her exes is more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
