An article purporting to know Taylor Swift’s reaction to Tom Hiddleston’s Golden Globes win was seemingly made up. Gossip Cop can reveal what’s going on.

As Gossip Cop reported, on Sunday, Hiddleston won for Best Performance in a Miniseries or Television Film by an Actor for “The Night Manager.” Swift was not in attendance, nor did she go to any of the after-parties. But HollywoodLife, of all places, is claiming to know just how the singer feels abut her ex-boyfriend’s victory.

“Taylor Swift Is Happy For Tom Hiddleston’s Golden Globes Success,” reads the rather obvious headline. (What, should she be unhappy?) In the supposed “exclusive,” it’s noted that “many of her fans and admirers couldn’t help but wonder how the superstar felt about her biggest ex of 2016, Tom Hiddleston, winning a Golden Globe.” And, wouldn’t you know, HollywoodLies just so happens to have a “source close to the singer” to solve the mystery.

The supposed “source” is quoted as saying, “Taylor is happy for Tom’s win. She didn’t really see his speech or watch the show. It wasn’t appointment television for her to see Tom and others she has dated.” Still, the alleged tipster adds, “But she is happy that Tom won, she feels that it was well deserved.”

That sounds nice and all, but Gossip Cop has repeatedly been told that sources legitimately close to Swift are not talking to the serial fabricators at HollywoodLies. In fact, seemingly manufacturing Swift reaction stories has become standard practice for the webloid. Most recently, there was the tall tale about the singer’s reaction to Drake and Jennifer Lopez dating.

And before that was an “exclusive” (ahem) about Swift’s reaction to Kanye West’s hospitalization. The site has even pulled the reverse move, offering up Hiddleston’s supposed reaction to Swift and Drake dating. Of course, the two performers were never an item, but that’s the level of accuracy, or lack thereof, we’re dealing with here.

HollywoodLies runs with rumors. They come up with new angle. They take hot topics and craft “exclusives” around them. It’s creative fiction, not journalism, and this new story is yet another example of it.
