A certain webloid is claiming to know Taylor Swift's reaction to Selena Gomez's performance at the AMAs, asserting she was "blown away." In actuality, this is nothing more than a manufactured guess. Gossip Cop can expose this story as made up.
This concocted article, titled "Taylor Swift 'Blown Away' By Selena Gomez's Performance At AMAs After Kidney Surgery," comes from the serial fabricators at HollywoodLife, who are claiming to have "EXCLUSIVELY learned how inspired Taylor is by Selena's return to performing live." A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "Taylor is totally inspired by Selena's courageous return to performing live. After seeing her dear friend endure a traumatic health crisis Taylor was blown away to then see Selena work hard to return to the AMAs with an emotional live performance."
"Taylor is touched and moved by Selena's resilience. Taylor felt proud to be Selena's friend, and she enjoyed watching her get back to her love performing her music live for her fans. Selena's AMA appearance was challenging so Taylor was completely supportive and happy for her dear friend," the site's supposed snitch further said. But a real person wouldn't repeat Swift and Gomez's names in every single sentence, and it's further suspicious that the phrase "dear friend" is used twice.
In addition, HollywoodLies, as it's known, and its purported tipster are merely saying what anyone would assume. Why wouldn't Swift be impressed by Gomez's resilience? Why wouldn't she be supportive and happy for her? This isn't a scoop. It's a group of obvious, no-brainer conclusions. The outlet pretty much did the same exact thing when claiming to "exclusively" know Justin Bieber was "super proud" of Gomez's return to performing. Of course he was. Why wouldn't he be? It doesn't take a "source" to know this. Not to mention, as Gossip Cop has repeatedly pointed out, real insiders close to Bieber, Swift and Gomez do not go spilling to HollywoodLies, a place they all despise. Gomez even told Billboard that the publication is the "worst."
More than that, the blog itself has proven countless times in the past that it doesn't have inside access, otherwise it wouldn't have published provably false stories, such as one that claimed Swift and Joe Alwyn were going to take their relationship public at her July Fourth party. The singer didn't even hold a bash this year, and if the webloid was actually in-the-know, it would've known there was no party in the works instead of claiming the opposite. In years past, the site has also peddled utterly false claims about Swift and Gomez being on the outs. As always, though, the problem was not with them but the uniformed outlet.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
