Taylor Swift did not hook up with Tom Hiddleston in “an attempt to get back” at Calvin Harris or make him “jealous,” despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the record. We’re told it’s entirely “not true.”

According to Life & Style, “Tom’s a pawn” in Swift’s scheme to exact vengeance on Harris for breaking up with her. A so-called “insider” tells the tabloid, Swift “chose to make out with Tom on a beach in front of passersby, knowing full well people were watching and taking pictures.” “She wanted photos of them out there,” notes the magazine’s source, adding, “Tom really likes Taylor. Ans Taylor likes Tom, but she also doesn’t mind that the new romance helps her get revenge on her ex.”

The publication claims after Harris broke up with Swift, she felt “humiliated,” and decided Hiddleston was the “perfect guy to make Calvin mad” because she had danced with him at the Met Gala in May. By the tabloid’s account, Swift knew Harris was “wary” of Hiddleston ever since then, so after she and the deejay split, she immediately pursued the British actor. Swift, alleges the magazine, was “hurt and wanted Calvin to feel… the pain she was feeling.” In the magazine’s scenario, Swift simply wanted to make Harris ”jealous,” with the hope that they could ultimately “work things out down the road.”

Gossip Cop gives the tabloid credit for publishing an interesting take on the events that have recently transpired, but it’s not what happened. Sources confirmed to Gossip Cop when Harris and Swift broke up that the relationship had “run its course,” and Harris instigated the split. The reality is Swift isn’t looking to have a “revenge romance” or “get back” at her ex-boyfriend, as claimed by the publication. After going separate ways with the deejay, Hiddleston simply seized the opportunity to go out with a suddenly single Swift. That’s it.

As for the public pictures, that was the most efficient way of letting the public know Swift and Hiddleston are now dating. It was also easier for getting the message out than having to hide their new relatipnship, and be chased by papaprazzi until their romance was discovered. Frankly, the magazine’s theory also makes no sense. Why would Hiddleston partake in a childish “revenge” scenario with Swift? Additionally, he’s a fairly well-educated man, who wouldn’t be duped by Swift or a “pawn” in some nefarious plot by her.

Still, Gossip Cop checked with a source close to the situation, and we’re exclusively assured the tabloid’s tale is “not true.” Admittedly, we’re not completely surprised the publication got it wrong. Gossip Cop has busted the magazine on numerous occasions for inaccurately reporting about Swift.

Three months ago, we corrected Life & Style when it untruthfully stated Swift was “nine weeks pregnant.” We also shot down the tabloid when it misguidedly published that the singer had replaced Selena Gomez with Blake Lively in her “squad.” Most significantly, Gossip Cop reported the outlet was wrong when it claimed Swift and Harris were planning a “summer wedding,” right as it emerged that they had split up. In all, the magazine has not been a credible source of information about Swift, while Gossip Cop has been spot-on accurate.
