Taylor Swift did not have her relationship with Joe Alwyn leaked to the media, despite a completely inaccurate report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this nonsense. We're told it's 100 percent wrong.
According to the new issue of the National Enquirer, Swift is "using her personal life... to score much-needed positive buzz" by leaking her new romance with Alwyn. The cynics at the supermarket tabloid maintain that the superstar singer "went into hiding after her 'fauxmance' with actor Tom Hiddleston imploded." And while the publication ardently contends Swift "staged the relationship" with Hiddleston, curiously the often disproven outlet neglects to mention to what end she supposedly had for the so-called "massive publicity stunt."
Of course, there are no reasons why Swift would have to pretend to be in a relationship. Professionally, there's no upside and personally she's been ravaged by social media and tabloids for her failed relationships. Why manufacture a fake romance and give the haters another reason to spew their venom? It simply makes no sense.
Naturally, the tabloid has a "snitch" quoted as saying, "Joe feels stupid after news broke about him and Taylor. Everyone told him she wouldn't use him for press... Then her camp leaked the news in preparation for her upcoming album."
Those claims are equally illogical. How can the gossip magazine first allege in its article that Swift chose "average Joe" Alwyn, who they termed "a little known actor," and then assert that she's using him for press? Swift is arguably one of the biggest and most famous performers alive. She does not need any more press. In fact, hundreds of articles were written simply because she successfully avoided the media for months. And if an internationally known singer needed publicity, wouldn't she have chosen an actor who's more than "average"?
Here's what's really going on: Swift and Alwyn started dating and neither of them needed the scrutiny of trolls online or in newsrooms. They tried to remain under the radar, but their romance was exposed. Swift, for her part, will not sell any more or any fewer albums because she's dating Alwyn. Her private romance with him is completely separate from the publicity and promotion that goes into releasing a record. Lastly, Gossip Cop is in the know, and not only are we told by Swift confidantes that the entire story is ridiculous, but we can also assure you that no one in Swift's camp "leaked the news" about her relationship with Alwyn.
If the Enquirer actually has Swift sources, they are beyond unreliable. In the past, Gossip Cop busted the supermarket tabloid for absurdly contending that Swift sent thank-you notes to Hiddleston and Calvin Harris for inspiring new music. (But why would one send a thank-you note to a 'fauxmance' partner?) And several weeks ago, we corrected the same publication when it falsely reported Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal were back together. (But wouldn't that have been widely leaked before her new album?) The magazine has been wrong many times before about Swift and is clearly again off-base with its latest article.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
