Taylor Swift is not "secretly engaged" to boyfriend Joe Alwyn, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct the phony claim. We've learned it's simply not true.
According to Life & Style, the actor recently proposed to his girlfriend with a vintage engagement ring. The magazine provides zero details about when and where the proposal occurred, but quotes a "source" as saying, "He's the kind of guy who would've gone old-school and asked her parents first, then gotten down on one knee to propose. It's truly everything she's ever wanted." The so-called "insider" goes on to say that Swift and Alwyn are "already wedding planning," and the singer "wants her own version of Meghan Markle's royal wedding."
The supposed tipster doesn't know where the wedding will be held, but theorizes it will happen in Alwyn's hometown of England. "Taylor's ideal ceremony would be held in a classic old church with an organ playing, and Taylor would love to walk down the aisle in a white gown with a long train," adds the seemingly imaginary insider. "Taylor wants to feel and look like a princess and is willing to splash out a lot of cash to achieve her goal."
The magazine goes on to say that Swift is choosing 12 members of her girl squad to serve as her bridesmaids, but only names Selena Gomez as one of them. The other 11 aren't mentioned. Following the wedding, "Taylor and Joe would both want to start the baby planning on their romantic honeymoon," says the suspicious source, who suspects the two will choose Turks and Caicos. "They're both on the same page about being young parents, wanting to have kids before they turn 30, so they're right on track," adds the alleged insider. "The wedding is going to be amazing."
The magazine's report is very flimsy. In addition to the "source" not knowing when and where Alwyn proposed, every detail provided about Swift's "wedding" is hypothetical. The "source" gives an account of what the pop star's "ideal ceremony" might look like, but doesn't actually know when and where it's being held. The tipster also doesn't know where Swift and Alwyn plan to honeymoon, but guesses they'll go to Turks and Caicos and try to conceive a child during the trip. The outlet's article reads more like fan fiction than anything resembling journalism.
Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Swift, who tells us on the condition of anonymity that the the tabloid's cover story is "false." Although it appears that Swift and Alwyn's relationship is getting increasingly serious, she's not secretly engaged or in the process of planning a wedding. It should be mentioned, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style in June for claiming that Swift and Alwyn would be getting married in August. That didn't happen. This latest article fails to explain what happened to their "summer wedding," and that's because the tabloid has no insight into the couple's relationship.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
