Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are not engaged, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can shoot down this speculative claim. We're told the report is "fake."
According to the NW, when Swift and Alwyn were spotted hiking in Malibu on March 7, the rarely seen couple were not only getting in cardio exercise, but also "shedding for their upcoming wedding." A so-called "close pal" is quoted telling the tabloid, "They've been unofficially engaged for a couple of months now." "Taylor wants to announce the news once they've settled on the perfect engagement ring," adds the supposed source.
To that end, the magazine contends the two are "working with an independent high-end jeweler on the sly to create the perfect sparkler" for the singer. "Taylor insists on being involved with this," continues the alleged "insider," who asserts that like Swift's upcoming Reputation tour, she's "treating ring shopping as a major project." Not only does the "close pal" know all about what Swift wants, but the tipster seems to also be very knowledgeable about George and Amal Clooney and their jewelry.
The same questionable "source" shares, "Taylor gravitates toward single-stone emerald cuts, like the one George Clooney gave Amal." "But she isn't expecting the same seven-carat treatment because Joe's not worth anywhere near as much as George," continues the increasingly creepy "insider," who apparently not only knows the price of Amal's engagement but also Alwyn's net worth. And while Swift is "more than happy to chip in for the ring," contends the tabloid, the British actor is a "traditionalist" and "insists on buying the ring himself." For that and other reasons, concludes the tabloid, Swift views Alwyn "as definite husband material and can't wait to start their life together as man and wife."
While Gossip Cop is not disputing Swift and Alwyn have gotten serious, a source close to the situation assures us they are not "unofficially engaged" nor have they been in the process of designing "the perfect sparkler." Their 90-minute hike in Malibu had nothing to do with getting in shape for a nonexistent wedding. All talk of them planning a wedding is "fake," an impeccable insider assures Gossip Cop.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
