A blog claims Taylor Swift is being targeted for Scientology by Elisabeth Moss, who’s a member of the church. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus story. It’s entirely made-up.

At the Emmy Awards back in September, Moss revealed in a red carpet interview that she and her “Handmaid’s Tale” co-stars sing Swift’s songs on set when they want to let loose while shooting the intense drama. The word got back to the singer, who recorded a message for the actress that was broadcast during “E!’s Live From the Red Carpet” at the Golden Globes last month. In the video, Swift thanked Moss for the shoutout, said she’s a “huge fan” of the Hulu series and added, “Would love to meet you someday.” The delighted actress responded, “I can’t believe she even knows who I am! That’s amazing… Hi Taylor, I’m happy to come over and hang out anytime!”

The back-and-forth between the stars inspired RadarOnline to come up with a bogus story involving Moss’s affiliation with Scientology. An alleged insider tells the website that church leaders will likely ask to the actress to capitalize on the “connection” she made with the singer. “It will be her job to get Taylor to trust her and slowly sell her on the benefits of Scientology,” adds the supposed source. “Elisabeth has already scored a win by having Taylor buddy up to a Scientologist. The church loves that kind of positive press!”

The two women haven’t actually met in person, so the outlet’s article doesn’t make much sense from the start. Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Moss, who wasn’t able to speak on the record, but assures us the site’s story is complete nonsense. The actress isn’t on a secret mission to recruit Swift for Scientology because the singer recorded a video message for her and said she’s a fan of “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

It’s worth noting, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has had to debunk a story involving Moss’s involvement in the controversial religion. We previously busted RadarOnline’s sister outlet, the National Enquirer, for falsely claiming Tom Cruise was pursuing a romance with Moss because he wanted to date another famous Scientologist. Shortly before that, the blog’s other sister publication, Star, made up a story about Moss feuding with Nicole Kidman on the set of their TV series, “Top Of The Lake,” because she believed Kidman hurt Cruise’s reputation during their divorce. This latest article surrounding the actress’s brief interaction with Swift is similarly bogus.
