A story claiming Taylor Swift canceled her 4th of July party was made up. And it was made up by the same webloid that lied about the superstar having a party in the first place.
Yes, we're talking about HollywoodLife. As Gossip Cop has pointed out, the site published multiple "exclusives" in the days before July Fourth, claiming to have inside knowledge of Swift's plans for the holiday. The outlet claimed that not only was the singer going to host a bash with her "squad," but that Swift was "planning to share" her romance with Joe Alwyn with friends and fans. It was specifically alleged she intended to "blow up" social media by flaunting the relationship amid her Independence Day celebration. And it was also claimed that Alwyn, too, wanted to let the "world" in on their romance.
But on Tuesday, as it became increasingly clear that Swift wasn't hosting a celebration, HollywoodLies ran a new story, titled, "Is Taylor Swift Skipping Her 4th Of July Party This Year? Here's The Evidence." As Gossip Cop pointed out, though, the webloid should have known from the start that there wasn't going to be a party if it truly had "sources" providing the site with insight, as claimed. So, what is the outlet doing after being caught lying about Swift's plans?
Well, HollywoodLies is lying again, of course. "Taylor Swift Cancels 4th Of July Party To Concentrate On New Album & New BF Joe," reads the headline of the latest "exclusive." A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "[Taylor] really meant it when she said she didn't want to be seen or heard from much for the rest of 2017 after her Super Bowl weekend performance... The hoopla surrounding her Fourth of July party was something she didn't want this year."
Why, then, did HollywoodLies publish multiple "exclusives" all about Swift's supposed plans for a party? Shouldn't HollywoodLies have known all along that she "didn't want a party this year"? Notably, the previous claims aren't even acknowledged in this new piece. The webloid is essentially pretending it never alleged Swift planned to host a bash with friends and debut her relationship with Alwyn on social media. In its desperation to appear in-the-know, the site made up lies about the songstress' plans and is now lying about why she didn't actually have any plans. It's absolutely pathetic.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
