Taylor Swift and Adele are not collaborating on new music, despite a number of reports. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct these inaccurate stories. We're assured it's 100 percent "not true."
"Taylor Swift & Adele Are Collaborating!" exclaims Perez Hilton in a new report. The blogger adds how the two singers might "bless us with new tunes in the near future." And while Swift hinted last month to fans at the iHeartRadio Music Awards that "when there is new music, you will be the first to know," Gossip Cop has learned those songs won't be with Adele.
Rather than fact-checking the claim, the blogger simply picked up the reporting from another site called HollywoodPipeline, which alleges a collaboration is in the works because Adele has been repeatedly spotted going to the Electric Lady recording studio in New York. That outlet also maintained, "Adele spent two days at Taylor Swift's Tribeca penthouse." And it insisted an "eyewitness spotted tons of Adele's recording equipment being delivered to Swift's home for the hangout."
"We love the idea of them working together," asserts Perez based on that hearsay, before imploring, "Taylor and Adele need to drop new music NOW!" The site Idolator also picked up the HollywoodPipeline piece, but stressed it was just a "rumor" right now. And as opposed to the blogger, who's headline about the two singers "collaborating" was stated as fact, Idolator more cautiously asked, "Is A Taylor Swift & Adele Collaboration On The Way?"
Regardless, Gossip Cop looked into the story, and a source close to Swift, who was not authorized to speak on the record, exclusively tells us it's "not true." While the two singers will be working on new music, they won't be collaborating. Additionally, Gossip Cop hears Adele did not spend a couple of nights at Swift's New York apartment, nor did she have recording equipment sent there.
Of course, Gossip Cop isn't surprised by the bogus premise. The tabloids and entertainment sites have a history of coming up with fake music collaborations. Last month, we debunked an inaccurate report about Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper recording a song for the singer's new album. The A Star Is Born co-stars aren't teaming up for new music. And a few months ago, Gossip Cop busted a false story claiming Drake and Millie Bobby Brown were working on a rap album together. The rapper and the "Stranger Things" star also don't have any joint music in the works.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
